Installing a Printer

While you install the software only once, you can install printers and media at any time using the Printer Install dialog (Figure 1). When you install the software for the first time, the Printer Install Dialog opens automatically.

While you install the software only once, you can install printers and media at any time using the Printer Install dialog (Figure 1). When you install the software for the first time, the Printer Install Dialog opens automatically. Opening the Printer Install: You can use any of the following ways to open the Printer Install: Insert the program disk into your disk drive - Place your program disk in your disk drive. If the disk does not run automatically, run the disk. Click Install Printer from your program files - From your Start menu, browse to your program files, and select Install Printer. Double-click a PrnInst - If you know where the PrnInst file for your printer is located, you can double-click the file to automatically load the PrnInst into the Printer Install. Browse to the PrinterInstall.exe file - Browse to and double-click the PrinterInstall.exe file (<program name>\Common\PrinterInstall.exe). Using the Printer Install: Once the Printer Install dialog is open, click the Browse button. This opens a window browser. Browse to the PrnInst of the printer you want to install, highlight it, and click Open. You can select multiple printers if you need to. After your printer appears in the Printer Install dialog, select the media you would like to install with that printer by expanding the printer and selecting the box next to each media name. You can select groups of media by selecting the box of the next level higher. For example, selecting the printer itself will also select all the media associated with that printer. Because you will not use all media associated with each printer, select only the media you are most likely to use. You can always return to the Printer Install dialog and add new media later. Click Next. Your printer will begin installing. When done, click Finish. NOTE: Your Permissions determine how many and which printers are available to you.
